You're probably wondering where the name Tomstone came from. Afterall, Tom Ray's last name was Ray, not Stone. Well he took that name from the town of Tombstone, Arizona. Having been born in Arizona, then having lived his life on puns, being the great brain that he was and master animator that he became, he always said when he had a gift shop he would call it Tomstone, a combination of his first name, Tom, and Stone from Tombstone. He'd remove the b from Tombstone and there he would have it -- Tomstone -- . That name was first used when Tom decided to build a cowboy town in his backyard in Culver City, California in the early 50's, saloon and all. He called it Tomstone. He then drew his character, The Tomstone Kid, who dreamed of being a cowboy, so he'd always try to lasso the calf for practice. He might not have gotten that rope around the calf's neck all the time, as the calf would see him coming and run for his life, but he'd always manage to lasso a star or two...
And so, to this very day people still say, "Oh, Tombstone!" And we with a chuckle respond, "No. Tomstone. Just remove the b."
